REFERENCE TO WEIGHT

The ever escalating obesity problem may very well be the result of more than one problem, but the relation of the problems to where they occur is a bit surprising. I just recently read a study conducted in the state of Illinois that made some pretty interesting, and in my opinion pretty shocking points. Apparently all the business men and women bustling around the busy densely populated streets are probably getting a reasonable amount of exercise – I would have guessed all the sitting in board meetings, hopping in cabs to go to lunch and elevators to the loft would be the main reason for carrying extra weight in the city, but apparently the weight and health problems among this group may very well be a direct result of poor executive nutrition in Chicago. On the other hand, in the more suburban areas surrounding the city, like Cook County, the average resident reportedly only walks about twenty minutes a month – that works out to be less than a minute a day. I would have guessed that people in the suburbs would have to be walking their kids to school, or making trips to the corner store, maybe walking the dog. This goes to show that where and how you live may have a big impact on your body and overall health isn’t just a result of one aspect of your lifestyle; good health can only be achieved by eating well and getting enough exercise.
